10/10: Kérastase Blond Absolu Gives Us Blondes All We’ve Ever Wanted

As many blondes will tell you, finding and maintaining the perfect shade is tough work. While toning shampoos certainly aren’t new, the innovation behind each one is constantly evolving.

Released in May 2019, the five-piece Kérastase Blond Absolu collection is designed to care for the hair and while achieving tone perfection.

The range contains the highest concentration of ultra-violet neutralisers, combined with the hydrating power of Hylauronic Acid and the antioxidative benefits of Edelweiss Flower.

How to use Kérastase Blond Absolu:

I personally love the shampoo. Like all Kérastase products, it feels rich and lathers luxuriously – but more importantly it actually performs too. The shampoo is deeply pigmented with both blue and purple reflects to counter a range of brassy tones. Because of this intensity, I apply the product to my ends first (which are always the most brassy), and then comb through my roots just before rinsing. What I love most about this shampoo is that it leaves no residue on your scalp, and it actually lifts and brightens your blonde. Many other toning shampoos have dried out my hair and made it look dull.

After shampooing, I follow with CICAFLASH which is a deep conditioning treatment. While light purple in colour, it will not deposit any more pigment – instead it repairs your hair to reduce breakage and boost shine.

If I need further neutralisation on my mid-lengths and ends, I swap out CICAFLASH for the masque. This contains the same intense pigments as the shampoo, while providing essential nourishment for my hair.

Another standout in the range is CICAPLASME, the heat-protecting serum. I applied three pumps to my towel dried hair and blow dried as usual. My hair was noticeably smoother and felt softer than my usual serums.

I would whole-heartedly recommend this collection to my fair-headed friends. While deeply pigmented, the range does well to neutralise and cleanse the hair without staining or mattifying your blonde. The hyaluronic acid is a great addition too, providing essential hydration to our stressed tresses.

It’s an easy 10/10 from me!
