It-Girl Trends for Winter '22
ROXY ALLNUTT
The It Girl is a true minimalist, always looks well put together, and, by my definition, must smell divine.
11 JUL - 2022
The It Girl is a true minimalist and always looks well put together. She wears designer investments and mixes them with trendy pieces for a high-low look.
Enter designers like Burberry, COS, and Maggie Marilyn, who have long championed elegant outerwear like trench coats, heavy cardis, and even refined the down puffer in a minimalist silhouette. Meanwhile, Zara and H & M dominate the It girl field with coats and woollen layers, encapsulating the toned-down, timeless vibes we are all trying to achieve.
Winter welcomes shorter days and longer nights. So let's spend these days feeling like our elegant, stylish, yet cozy selves. For the class '22 It girls, I look to Lila Moss, Matilda Djerf, and Chloe Fraser. The only issue is that they are now hopping into their summer threads. So, as we rug up for winter, we look to our moguls down under for their recommendations and insights.
Here are some of my favourite looks spotted on the girls I'm trying to emulate. These vibes will satiate your inner minimalist if you're feeling the urge to throw on something beautiful, effortless, and ridiculously toasty all at once.
Colour Blocking
Several runways (including those of heavy hitters like Gucci, Chanel, and Jacquemus) featured colour-blocking during the Autumn/Winter 2021 season, providing inspiration for surprising colour combos.
Choosing colours from opposing sides of the colour wheel is a good rule of thumb. However, if you want a more minimalist approach, stick to a single colour family or try contrasting a neutral tone with an energetic one.
Slick Back Buns
Not fashion, but seen everywhere like fashion. A year of lockdown has changed our haircare practices drastically. We used to spend hours on a Saturday morning tonging our hair into perfect waves before meeting up with friends. Now we want something slicker and more casual - the simple bun is in. You'll spot this hair style on me on every occasion - a night out, in the corporate world and even on my lazy Sundays.

Trench Coats
The classic Burberry-inspired trench will never go out of style. The camel and toasted brown colourways are still everywhere, and their navy will always be a classic. However, there are also some great alternatives.

The Timeless Knit
If you didn't have a knit in your closet before last year, you probably do now. Personally, I've always favoured the knitted cover-up (while I adore sweaters, I prefer the way cardigans look and shrug against my collarbones). It appears that the rest of the fashion world has agreed with me. I'm obsessed with the jersey that India wears below. It screams effortless chic, and it's something to suit any moment of the week.

Another Puffer Moment
Yes, puffers are around every season, but this year, it's all about the ones that make you feel super relaxed while being elevated and simple. Consider duvet-inspired numbers that may pass for wearing a cloud as outerwear.

As seen below on Jacquie and Tamara, they have the right idea on how to bring those pieces of your wardrobe back out for something stunning.
