Yes You Should Smell The New Coach Wild Rose
BY ROXY ALLNUTT
A sweet dupe for Baccarat Rouge 540
26 OCT -2022
It’s a whole lot of rose and ambroxan.
As a Coach enthusiast for their fashion, campaigns, ambassadors, and fragrances, I am welcoming this one with open arms. This blend screams strong femininity. The balance between sweet, bold, and sexy is one that deserves a sniff by everyone. If you are familiar with the Coach fragrances, you will know them for their sparkling light and fresh scents for summer. Wild Rose is far from their typical. You will love this if you love something a little richer.
This was a blind grab (always risky), but I had a strong feeling I’d enjoy the combination of ambroxan and rose. My face as well as the boyf’s lit up at first sniff – an immediate relief. I decided to wear it to a cocktail party that night, something that I was slightly nervous about. A good perfume always gets this nervous gal over the line. It was great to wear something new which smells heavenly.
Top Notes: Red current, bergamot
Middle Notes: Jasmine, rose
Base Notes: Ambroxan, tonka bean
The stunning deep rose bottle tells half of its story; a sultry yet syrupy evening rose. This is a noticeable move for the Coach fragrance house as the majority of their fragrances are light, fresh, fruity or floral for the summertime. I love that Coach sources a lot of their inspiration for their own runways’ patterns and colours. This is definitely the deepest, strongest, and sexiest release, which is great for gals like me who like a little more presence from the wear.
Perfect for the sweet lovers with a feisty personality.
The name “Wild Rose” makes me think that maybe there would be some grassy, wild notes in there, but the fragrance doesn’t really have any green feel to it. Instead, we have a lot of roses and ambroxan (WIN). Ambroxan done well is one of my all time favourite notes. It can very easily put some people off as it can be quite an overpowering musk. Back in my perfume making days, I couldn't stand ambroxan with anything other than floral, so this is amazing to wear as it’s so wonderfully balanced.
Even though rose is a note that often goes very wrong on me, it is so wonderful when it goes right. It reminds me of Baccarat 540, which is a dupe so many of us Masion Krustan lovers long for. Wild Rose is a slightly fruitier scent, if that fancies you. This one has pretty good projection powers (expect compliments!) but its longevity is pretty moderate.
From the first swatch on the skin, you can pick up the rose immediately, and though it remains in its drydown, it doesn't overpower. I get hints of sour citrus and fruity currents but about 20 minutes later when the top notes begin to settle, the scent became more creamy and the tonka bean with the sweet musk gives it the warm, richness that the bottle truly delivers. If you pick your perfumes to suit the seasons, I recommend it for autumn or winter, or when the evenings get cooler.
