Way before ‘clean beauty’ became a lifestyle trend from consumer demand, it was Jane Iredale who pioneered natural cosmetics! During the early 90’s, while Jane was working as a casting director and producer, she noticed that stage makeup was causing skin problems in actors. In an effort to provide a makeup solution that was good for the skin and also our confidence, she innovated the Amazing Base Loose Mineral Powder - a product that is still a best-seller around the world.
Free from parabens, talc, phthalates, synthetic fragrance, fillers, and GMO ingredients, we can only imagine how creating a cruelty-free mineral makeup brand was considered to be out-of-the-ordinary at the time. Not to mention, how much R&D would have been required to innovate such a product!

Jane Iredale HydroPure Tinted Serum
As someone who has tried bucket loads of complexion makeup for my Beauty Editor job, I’ve fallen in love with only a handful of formulas - and the Jane Iredale HydroPure Tinted Serum is one of them. It launched late last year, just in time for the ‘barely-there’ trend of 2023 - we’re wanting an undetectable veil of coverage that looks like our skin, but better.
As of late, there’s been a myriad of skincare hybrid makeup formulations launched in the market to deliver the needs of this trend. However, when you go through the ingredients list, it’s evident that nothing is as potent in its skin caring qualities as Jane Iredale. Plus, most others seem to slip off the face after a few hours instead of sticking to our skin.
Infused with hyaluronic acid, olive squalane and CoQ10, this formula is ultra-hydrating as expected. It also boosts the skin’s ability to fight free radicals and supports the skin’s barrier by preventing transepidermal water loss. Another impressive thing to note is that Jane Iredale has gone the extra mile to encapsulate the pure mineral pigments and active ingredients in a liposome to prevent degradation of its ingredients.
Upon application, the spheres of pigment satisfyingly burst on the skin, mixing with the cooling gel that holds them together. You can feel the hyaluronic acid give the skin a rush of moisture which is exactly what we need, especially during these winter months.
Although the coverage is sheer, the HydroPure Tinted Serum works hard to even the skin tone as well as plump and blur lines, leaving the skin with a delicious coat of fresh-faced dewiness.
Due to it having a serum consistency, its wearability is featherlight and flexible, moving in sync with our skin. Plus, if you’re one of the many who suffers from sensitive skin, the HydroPure Tinted Serum also includes allantoin to help soothe redness and irritation.
Perfect for daily use, I personally love to use the HydroPure Tinted Serum on its own. I think they’ve absolutely nailed the formula as it sits so well on my skin all day - I haven’t stopped using it since I got my hands on it! Jane Iredale Glow Time Blush Sticks
In the past few years, cream makeup has taken over due to its ease in application as well as its glowy finish. Like most new product lines, there are always some teething issues and cream blushes are no different. I’ve tried all sorts - they either made my skin oily, were too pigmented or not pigmented enough, moved my underlying makeup, or dried too fast and created streaks.
But with Jane Iredale Glow Time Blush Sticks, you’ll have absolutely no issues. It’s incredibly easy to blend due to the inclusion of vegan ceresin wax that provides a streak-free finish. This means it’s ideal for when you’re on-the-go to touch-up or build up your blush with your fingers. As we all know, blush is the first bit of makeup to disappear as you go about your day, so it’s important to have a product that is easily buildable!
In terms of colours, Smolder and Balmy are my two favourite shades from the naturally radiant line as I prefer a balm-like sheen over a shimmer finish. I’ve been loving deeper rose-hued blushes as they exude a sense of effortless sophistication. Smolder is a warm nude rose while Balmy leans into the pink pigments more and provides a gorgeous berry rose. All of the blushes are multi-purpose and can be used on eyes, lips and cheeks.

If you’ve got sensitive eyes, Jane Iredale mascaras will be perfect for you! I rarely use a tube until it’s completely empty as most mascaras will leave me with smudging under the eyes or it will sting and cause my eyes to weep, further exacerbating the panda eye syndrome. However, I can attest that Jane Iredale won’t give you these issues!
As for the Smooth Affair Illuminating Primer, this creates a glorious luminous base that will work hand in hand with the HydroPure Tinted Serum. Like a real-life filter, it creates a soft focus look and blurs the appearance of pores and fine lines.
